The fabrics I use for my collithos are mostly colourful, as they come from my stock of printed and painted fabrics that I’ve accumulated over the years. But because I ink and print the collages several times, the colours in the fabric mostly gradually disappear.

That’s why I began using oil crayons to add colour to the collages. I start out with the original bright colours of the crayon. By the inking of the collages, these colours then become more subdued and contrasting colours are unified by the layers of ink.
